Judith (Judy) Kurtz Crow, MA, Adjunct Instructor in Communication at Gillette College and Paraeducator at Campbell County School District in Gillette, Wyoming, will be honored by District 26 Toastmasters for her achievements in the fields of Communication and Leadership.
Working for decades as an educator, Judy has spent the last 11 years in the field of Special Education and is presently a paraeducator at Thunder Basin High School in Gillette, Wyoming.
She prepares Special-Needs Students to meet every day “real life circumstances” and to learn how to face and overcome challenges. Her former job at Campbell County High School included taking Special Education Students to job sites, and she’s been responsible for students when participating and functioning in classroom activities.
“Listening well is one of the most overlooked keys to good communication. To be heard is a basic human need. Without a voice and someone to listen, people are invisible nobodies. Teaching and learning better communication skills is extremely important,” says Crow.
Judy constantly uses her voice to advocate for others in different situations and under different circumstances.
Because of her leadership and speaking abilities, Judy has been elected to four different offices on the executive board of the Campbell County Education Association. She has been elected to the Wyoming Education Association’s annual Delegate Assembly. Currently, Judy serves as WEA’s Northeast Region Vice President. She has been elected several times to represent Wyoming at the National Education Association Representative Assembly held every summer throughout the country.
Judy has also served on the WEA’s Member Advocacy and Civil Rights Committee. She has helped to revise education documents to remove potentially biased language.
The District 26 Toastmasters Communication and Leadership Achievement Award is presented annually to a non-Toastmasters member, someone outside a Toastmasters club, either in the community or an organization, who is a distinguished individual in the fields of communication or leadership.

I invite you to meet Judy at the District 26 Conference on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Greenwood Village at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, 7801 E. Orchard Road. Judy will be the guest of honor at the noon luncheon and will provide an acceptance speech. The conference begins Friday at 5:00 PM and will conclude Saturday night with the District 26 International Speech Contest.
