Cheyenne 798 is excited to announce that March of this year marks the 70th Anniversary of our club! We’d like to invite anyone passing through this blog post to come out and help us celebrate at the Laramie County Library Cottonwood Room (2200 Pioneer Avenue, Cheyenne, WY) on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.
As the annual Retention Awards remind us, Toastmasters clubs are always striving to keep membership strong. But the truth of the matter is: not all clubs make it. Especially so today, when fast-paced modern life makes extracurricular activities like Toastmasters a challenge for many. Clubs that retain their members are rightly celebrated.
In the spirit of honoring our seven decades, Cheyenne 798 will be throwing a party to look back on our founding years and to share with the community a bit of what makes our club so special. We’re thrilled to say that after all these years we’re still going strong—maybe stronger than ever!
We’re primed to celebrate our birthday with a bit more …er… energy than most who have reached the age of 70. The festivities will include door prizes, a variety of party refreshments, and—without doubt—lots of fun.
And the cherry topping our 70th birthday cake will be guest speaker Brooke Chestnut, who will present a 15-minute inspirational speech. Brooke is a renowned keynote who has climbed many mountains: figuratively in the corporate world and physically in an expedition to Mount Everest. After Brooke’s speech, we’ll show off a few of our club members with evaluations and table topics.
Whether you’re a public-speaking veteran or a rookie curious to get a taste of what Toastmasters is all about, this is the event for you. Come enjoy the festivities, meet the members of Cheyenne 798, eat some tasty food, and—fingers crossed—take home a sweet door prize. Can’t wait to see you there!
