Greetings District 26,
I humbly and personally wish to thank you for electing me to serve as District Director for the 2020-21. Serving the members of District 26 has been a truly rewarding experience and I look forward to working with you in the coming year. My vision is that we excel past our current challenges by getting back to the basics of why joined Toastmasters, to make a change. Most of us joined to make a change within ourselves. Many have stayed because we see the change that has happened in ourselves and those around us. Many have embarked on leadership in the club and beyond to enhance their own leadership capabilities and to help others to grow.
Are you that person? Are you willing to stretch beyond your comfort zone and growth? If so, there are many leadership opportunities available, especially Area Director positions. What does an Area Director do? I’m glad you asked:
- Area Director serves as liaison between Clubs and District.
- Area Director is required to make two visits to each Club within the area and submit 2 area Club visit reports to TI. The report details the health of the Club, including membership strength and educational achievements.
- The District strongly encourages on-going communication and visits to the Clubs to truly assess the Club culture.
- Area Director is responsible for organizing Area contest.
If you are interested in this or any other growth in leadership opportunity, please contact me directly at jlsmith.tm[at]nullgmail.com.
