Election

Many elections took place and we have a newly elected International Director from Region IV, Harold Osmundson.  For those of you who attended the District Council Meeting on May 2, 2020, he was in attendance as a then-candidate for the position.  Let’s welcome Harold Osmundson and cheer him on as he represents Toastmasters, globally, while serving on the Board of Directors.

Board of Directors Briefing

1. For the 2020-21 program year, Districts may charter fully online clubs and those clubs do become a part of that said District. This is awesome news for the District as COVID-19 has severely impacted our chartering process.
2. Policy 2.0 has been updated to reflect that all club meetings are conducted in-person, online or a combination of the two (hybrid).
3. All clubs are allowed to meet completely online without re-chartering as an online club.

World Championship of Public Speaking:

The Convention was full of wonderful breakout sessions and meetings, but the main attraction was the World Championship of Public Speaking.  This years’ winners are:

1^st Place Mike Carr from District 55, “The Librarian & Mrs. Montgomery”

2^nd Place Linda-Marie Miller from District 37, “Pretending Not to Know”

3^rd Place Lindy MacLaine from District 32, “Your Buried Story”.
