March 9, 2020 – Via email sent to District Leaders
Toastmasters International is monitoring the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on current and upcoming District activities. We extend our empathy and compassion to those who are and may be affected. Around the world, the impact of the virus varies greatly. Some members, clubs, and Districts have been significantly affected, while others have been impacted less.
We encourage you and your team to continue monitoring the status of the virus within your District’s geography. Information is available from the World Health Organization (WHO) here, the United States Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) here and your local government’s health and safety authorities.
Most Districts are currently able to conduct District (including Area and Division) events and business in person. However, in some locations, there are restrictions imposed by local authorities. If such restrictions or other challenges exist, and you believe you need to modify the way your District conducts events and business, or the clubs in your District are unable to meet in person, please communicate promptly with the District Leader Support team at World Headquarters so that appropriate support and guidance can be provided.
Thank you for your leadership and dedication to our clubs and members during this challenging time. The health and safety of each individual is a top priority. We encourage everyone to take appropriate precautionary measures.
